PELVIC PAIN RELIEF DURING PREGNANCY AND POSTPARTUM

Pelvic pain relief is one of the most important things a woman can ask for while pregnant.

As a baby grows, the developing child pushes on all the organs surrounding the uterus. This can result in pelvic pain during pregnancy and postpartum. Pelvic pain can occur as early as the first trimester as the baby grows little-by-little, increasing the pressure on your uterus, small intestine, bladder, and rectum. However, pelvic pain can also be caused by the hormone relaxin. This hormone softens the pubic symphysis, the cartilage that holds the hip bones together, as your body prepares for childbirth. The resulting gap between the hip bones is often painful.

Once you give birth and transition into the postpartum stages, you may wonder why you’re still experiencing pelvic pain. One possible reason is that the body released too much of the hormone relaxin which can result in the hip bones being allowed too much movement. This abnormally large gap between the hip bones is known as pubic symphysis diastasis and can be very painful. Luckily, a brace or pelvic belt, such as the Original Babybellyband or Babybellyband SPORT band can aid in pelvic pain relief while this issue resolves itself! In other cases, postpartum pelvic pain can be caused by the pelvic floor being damaged or weakened during childbirth.

A massage while pregnant can be one of the most relaxing things, especially if you’re suffering from the many aches and pains that pregnancy often brings. A prenatal massage therapist can help increase lymph circulation to reduce swelling, relieve muscle cramps, and minimize the stress put on weight-bearing joints.

Pelvic Physical Therapy

Going to pelvic physical therapy will benefit you in more ways than you may think. First and foremost, it is always beneficial to get a professional opinion on extreme aches and pains you may be experiencing.
